Hamlet : Reclaimed by Gertrude…
Gertrude: Wife. Mother. Queen of Denmark – An intelligent, fearless woman whose power was consistently undermined by the men around her. In the 400 years since Hamlet was written, what – if anything – has changed?
Welcome to purgatory. Where everything we know about Gertrude is torn apart and reclaimed for the 21st century in a funny and fierce act of rebellion. There’ll be tea. There’ll be a visit from Joan of Arc. There’ll be a live drum score.
Outrageous Fortune is currently still in development. It will be touring the UK in Spring 2020 thanks to support from Arts Council England. Watch this space for dates.
The show is being written and devised by Debs and directed by John Wright. Outrageous Fortune will be Debs’ third and most ambitious collaboration with the legendary director.
